on thursday with the other actors involved here. as far as why i believe it was handled wrong by the fbi, first of all to have something like this a cyber harassment case rise to the level of an fbi investigation. when it reached the cia director, have the fbi investigate the director of of the cia and the president or the attorney general not be notified of it is a dereliction of duty. the president if he was not told should have been told and that to me was somebody really dropping the ball. the other thing makes the whole thing implausible is you have a four, five, six-month investigation whatever it was. nothing comes out, nothing is disclosed. suddenly on election night the fbi announces the investigation is over and they tell general clapper. the next day the white house finds out about it, the next day general petraeus submits his resignation. friday the president accepts the resignation. we find yesterday the fbi raiding the home of paula broadwell. then we find out general allen has been involved in emails with joe kelley, so you have like four or five different events happening

important thing is how the investigation is expanding. we went to bed, thinking the f.b.i. investigation ended and then we hear the f.b.i. was going back to broadwell's house, paula broadwell's house, petraeus' mistress in north carolina. we don't know what that is all about. then we hear shortly after that, that general john allen, the top u.s. commander in afghanistan, who was here in washington preparing for his confirmation hearings for his next job at the supreme allied commanderrer in europe, the confirmation hearings are on hold and he is now implicated in this controversy, because of 30,000 pages of e-mails to jill kelly, who is the woman who launched this investigation. so it really keeps unraveling. it's like an onion you keep rolling back. we also need to look at the contentious custody battle that jill kelly's sister was involved in. we now understand that petraeus and allen both wrote letters o, asking the judge to show leniency to kelly's sister. was there undue influence used by the two men for these wome women? and was there, were there any laws broken? it just keeps gett

was informed in late summer that the f.b.i. was investigating general petraeus at that time. however, we're told that holder was not given details during that period. source tells us that is consistent with long-standing bureau policy not to brief congress or the white house in the middle of a criminal investigation. when it does notvo a security threat -- not involve a security threat. members of congress wanted to be briefed, they said. it appears the probe began when a petraeus family friend reported to the f.b.i. she was receiving anonymous threatening e-mails and investigators linked those e-mails to paula broadwell, the general's biographer. the tone of the e-mail suggested that broadwell perceived the woman as a romantic rival. the facebook reportedly discovered the affair between broadwell and petraeus. as far as the timing there are reports that the investigation concluded just before the election. we're told paula broadwell's second and time interview with f.b.i. was on the friday before the election. that is when they were able to formally conclude no crimes were committed. no
